Chiang Rai

Chiang Rai - both a city and Thailand's most northerly province borders with Burma and Laos at the famous "Golden Triangle." Breathtaking mountain scenery, adventure and challenging trekking to more remote hilltribes awaits.

A long drive (3 hours +) from Chiang Mai city, most people fly to Chiang Rai and spend a few days there, sightseeing and taking adventure tours around the area. Package tours from Bangkok and Chiang Mai usually include elephant trekking, rafting and hilltribe visit with a local guide who can speak the tribal dialect.

Mae Hong Son

Angkang

Located in the far north close to the Burmese border, Angkang is a comfortable 3 hour drive from Chiang Mai. A small hill station in the middle of nowhere, Angkang is a perfect place to unwind. The mountain location, cool climate and scenic beauty of the surrounding countryside make it an ideal place to take time out.
